Jumpstart NEO
For my capstone, I explored the medium of card design to tell five unique stories in a pick-up-and-play format.
Grimhook
My favorite narrative design role was on Grimhook, a fast-paced character action-platformer with an eldritch twist.
Game Jams
My first few group game development projects were game jams, where I learned how to work efficiently in time-pressed conditions. These are some of the games I helped create, and while there are many things I would do differently now, these projects were highly educational.
Personal Projects
By making games independently, I can gain a more holistic view of the game development process. It also gives me a chance to test out new narrative mechanics. Here are two projects that taught specific lessons.
Magic: The Gathering Design Study
Here are the articles I have written delving into the brilliant design of Magic: The Gathering. I am using my research in a current project designing a custom Magic: The Gathering product.
Screenplays & Short Fiction
My independent work focuses on the nuances of relationships and especially the way people talk communicate with each other. I pride myself on my realistic and characteristic dialogue.
Story Bibles
For larger game projects, it is the responsibility of the narrative designer to create and maintain the story bible, a document that contains all of the information on that game's world and narrative.
Adapted Screenplays
I have used screenwriting as a method of exploring sound design. Bellow are a few of my audio projects. Each takes the form of a short audio skit adapting scripts entirely written by me.
